With the cool winds of autumn well and truly upon us, most of us have already started feeling the effects of the cold, dry air on our skin. The weather is fast going to get even colder, and it’s time to start giving our skin the TLC it needs to get through the winter season. From hydrating our skin more often to supplementing with beauty collagen powder, here are some of our favourite ways to keep our skin looking healthy and glowing all through the colder weather:

Table of Contents

  • 1. Hydrate More
  • 2. Turn Down The Temperature On Those Showers And Baths
  • 3. A Thick Moisturiser Will Be Your Best Friend
  • 4. Invest in a Humidifier
  • 5. Supplement with Beauty Collagen Powder

1. Hydrate More

We naturally start drinking less water during the colder weather. This is because hot weather makes us feel more thirsty and in an attempt to cool off, we may easily chug a few litres of water throughout the day. When it is cold out, we often forget to drink as much water, which can make it very easy to get dehydrated without even realizing it.

Your body needs water and moisture to perform its basic functions. When you are dehydrated, the body is forced to choose where to provide moisture to and your vital organs often take precedence over your skin. Combined with the low humidity in the air, the low levels of water in your body can make your skin feel tight, dry and irritated. It is best to keep a reusable bottle with you at all times and sip slowly throughout the day.

Better yet, make yourself a few cups of warm, winter teas like black tea, masala chai, or a lemon and  blend, put them in a thermos flask and enjoy them throughout the day for instant rejuvenation and hydration. Bonus points if the tea is blended with beauty collagen powder!

2. Turn Down The Temperature On Those Showers And Baths

There’s nothing better than coming in from the freezing cold and taking a long, steaming hot shower. While hot showers and baths can feel incredible in the colder weather, they can also wreak havoc on your skin! Hot water will excessively dehydrate you and  your skin of the natural oils it needs to keep it feeling soft and supple. If your skin feels dry and tight after you’ve taken your shower, you may have turned the temperature of the water too high. It’s best to take shorter, lukewarm showers, both for the sake of your skin and for the environment!

3. A Thick Moisturiser Will Be Your Best Friend

Your skin needs all the moisture it can get during the colder months. After taking a shower or washing your face with a gentle, fragrance-free (fragrance in beauty products can be extremely drying!) cleanser, use a thick, petroleum or cream-based moisturiser to slather on if you have normal or dry skin.

Those with combination to oily skin often make the mistake of believing that they don’t need moisturiser because their skin already produces enough oil to make up for it. In reality, not using moisturiser could actually be drying out your skin even more and forcing it to produce more oils to make up for the lack of moisture, resulting in breakouts and shiny spots.

Don’t forget your lips! Dry, chapped lips are far more common during the winter months and your regular lip balm may not be enough to heal them. Instead, use a thicker lip salve made especially for use in the winter with hydrating ingredients like beeswax, petroleum jelly, sheaf butter or hyaluronic acid.

4. Invest in a Humidifier

Dry air can pull moisture away from your skin. A good-quality humidifier in your home or office will restore moisture back into the air, helping keep your skin hydrated. Heaters are also notorious for ******* the moisture out of a room! Indoor humidity levels should ideally be between 30 to 50 percent, something that can be easily achieved by running a humidifier in the house for a few hours.

5. Supplement with Beauty Collagen Powder

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and is responsible for giving our skin its elasticity and youthful glow. As you reach your late twenties, the collagen levels in the body start decreasing and the body loses its natural ability to produce the protein by 1-2% each year. Studies have found that supplementing with collagen, or better yet, tea blended with beauty collagen powder, can improve skin elasticity as well as the skin’s natural ability to hold water.

It also reduces transepidermal water loss, preventing your skin from drying out in the colder weather. Many types of tea contain powerful antioxidants which further help protect our skin from oxidative stress, the levels of which are much higher during winter. This is what makes collagen beauty tea such an incredible mix of dynamic ingredients that can completely transform the health of your skin.

Now that you’ve taken care of the above, it’s time to bundle up and make the most of the colder weather without any worries!
